#FamilyFunFellowshipDay – Family Reunion 2013 SUCCESS!

A fabulous turnout for a great day of family, fun and fellowship…

Picture it – three sides to a large family. Some of which haven’t seen each other in over 20 years… And they all come together at the notion of celebrating the good times… In 2007 that’s exactly what happened. What began as a humble vision of bringing a large family together turned into something I never expected in 2007. Fast forward 6 years and I hosted another #FamilyFunFelloshipDay that was sure to exceed that.

Of course I posted my progress leading up to the event via social media (Instagram, FB, Twitter) and that generated a lot of excitement for the day itself. Planning, communicating with people I don’t usually get to talk to and lots of preparation work was all worth it… We had a monumental turn out of 51 people and I am looking forward to planning next year… From save the dates to invites, finding out postal addresses and menu planning to games, activities and figuring out how to get everyone involved, I loved every part of the process.

What are some of your favorite memories of your family reunions? What are some of the yearly traditions you still honor to this day? What about the food, what’s your favorite staple at the family reunion – Aunt Connie’s potato salad or Uncle Jimmy’s ribs? Talk to me blog world 🙂

Mostly Mommies Night Out – Pinot’s Palette – St. Matthews

Mostly Mommies – Monthly Night Out

This post started as me just wanting to share my cool painting, but I realized I had an opportunity to give some warm & fuzzies to both Mostly Mommies and Pinot’s Palette – St. Matthews :).

My friend Brittany is apart of a group here in Louisville called “Mostly Mommies”. It’s a group of wonderful women who just wanted to get together, discuss parenting, hang out, have play dates, etc. with no judgement. The ladies who originally created Mostly Mommies really enjoyed the thought of gathering at least monthly to just get out and enjoy some time with other women from all walks of life. It’s since grown to something that women look forward to monthly as well as their in between times of convening, play dates and the like. Pretty neat.  I have been a little reserved about joining on earlier invites to their monthly outings simply because I’m not a mother, yet. However, Brittany insisted that I could come on out anyway and this event happened to be doing something I love – being creative (painting) so I said, ‘why not?!’

Pinot’s Palette is apparently similar to a more known art add wine place called Uptown Art. Like Uptown it is also a chain and has a location here in Louisville. I have a credit for UA but I haven’t had the chance to make it out to enjoy their facility just yet, so this was my first experience with the paint add wine venue. Let me just say, it was an amazing time, even without any wine. (Did I just say that, yes I did, lol) From booking to a friendly “reminder” email to request any last minute seating accommodations, everyone just seemed so genuine and friendly. Any time I’m WOW’d with customer service I am thrilled, because it’s like a needle in a haystack to find a company who values that anymore. I’ll definitely return to PP’s in the future, especially since we’re almost neighbors 🙂

Pinot’s Palette St. Matthews –

Random Tidbit-While the Moms and Wives were creating their monogrammed painting for their household I was thinking to myself, I don’t want a painting that says the ‘Smiths’ when it’s just me. So I opted to just my full name with my last initial…that’s not changing any time soon. 😉

Phenomenal Women Logo

Promising to Self, Sister and My Community to be the best me I can be

Phenomenal Woman – Phenomenally Me

This is a logo I created this weekend for a lovely group of young women… Over a decade of history and as a result, many changed lives have gone through this group based at Atherton High School here in Louisville. I’m just blessed to be a small part. I’m looking forward to bigger and brighter things to come…
